Mental Health and Wellness Updates (1/30/2023)

Every student deserves to feel safe at school and in the community. In the last week we have experienced several tragic events related to gun violence across California.  These types of incidents can create anxiety and stress for students, parents and the larger community.  This is especially true as we think about grief and loss as cumulative.

For families who have been impacted by the recent floods or have felt the all too familiar sting of violence against their Community there can be a re-ignited or deepened feeling of collective trauma which can manifest in various ways such as sleep disturbance, irritability, and disengagement. Unimaginable events, such as these, are difficult to understand, let alone explain to students. To help navigate conversations within your families and our community around processing emotions and accessing support, we invite you to review and share the resources below:

Our hearts are with those communities who have lost loved ones in the last week.

Back to School Support

Dear Montague Families:

The Wellness Department from SCUSD has created a video for parents and caregivers to help your kids transition back to in-person school.  In addition, see the attachment on back to school transition activities.  The Montague staff looks forward to having your kids back on campus for the 2023-2024 school year!

Take care and see you soon.
